The Payment Card Industry (PCI) has mandates (driven by MasterCard and VISA) in place for any device that “touches” sensitive card holder information. Petroleum retailers that utilize card readers at the point-of-sale as well as dispensers, local area networks, and access to credit card networks, are required to meet security requirements and deadlines established by PCI.
